Jeanous Dollclothes for Conservative Young ladies presents this unique light weight blue chambray modest length skirt made in the USA. My best guess is 100% cotton. Chambray has the look of denim, but with a different weave pattern. While chambray and denim are often confused for one another, they’re not exactly the same fabric. A chambray is a plain weave fabric woven with a colored yarn in the warp and a white yarn in the weft. Like chambray, denim is made with a colored yarn in the warp and white in the weft, but is woven in a twill construction. The chambray’s warp and weft threads will alternate one over the other, while denim’s warp thread will go over two threads in the weft before going under one. Typically, you will notice a lighter color to the underside of a denim fabric, whereas the underside of chambray will appear much more similar to its face side This skirt is made from clean recycled chambray skirt. I use only clean clothes with no holes or stains unless I want a distressed appearance. Recycling was popular during the Westward expansion out of necessity. Today it is done by choice. Blue top stitching. Elastic waist skirt. I stitch through the elastic a couple of times to prevent rolling or twisting. All seams are stitched twice, first with a sewing machine straight stitch and then a serger to prevent fraying. I know how many times these clothes will be put on and taken off, so I strive to make them last for this generation and to be handed down to the next. I have added a tag to assist in resale should the owner decide not to keep her doll clothes for the next generation. This skirt is modeled on the American Girl doll. This skirt fits equally well on the Our Generation Battat, My Life As, Life of Faith or most other similarly sized 18” dolls. Item # 11720, Pic. # .

Educational: One of my fondest memories is of putting together new outfits from separates (ie skirts, tops, jackets, jeans, etc.) for my dolls. It was a great way to learn how to do this for myself. I am now doing this with my daughter with her clothes. We are having so much fun. Now she is getting better at it than I am. Recently we had an outfit of two solid colors. We wanted something to tie it all together. She thought and then said, "I know" and ran out of the room. She came back with a necklace with those two colors. This skirt can be paired with any color top, leotard, or sweater.
