EYE ON THE UNIVERSE SATELLITES AND SPACE PROBES BOOK GRADE 3 4 HOME SCHOOL SCIENCE 1998. Amazing photos show how these remarkable machines are important to communications, weather prediction, and teaching us about our solar system.
The Hubble Space Telescope was launched in 1990 to give us a clearer view of our solar system and the universe beyond. The Hubble is so powerful it can pick up a flashlight beam 250,000 miles (400,000 km) awaythe distance from Earth to Pluto! In Satellites and Space Probes, simple text and amazing photos help illustrate: how they work, how they are launched, and what they do their increasingly important role in communications and weather prediction how they teach us about our solar system
Two new books have been added to Crabtree's Eye on the Universe series, an introduction for children to the exciting discoveries we have made in space and the mysteries that still remain. Up-to-date photographs taken through powerful space telescopes such as the Hubble give children a close-up view of: -- the planets in our solar system -- natural phenomena such as light shows in the sky -- the technology we have launched into space -- how people live and work without gravity The Hubble Space Telescope was launched in 1990 to give us a clearer view of our solar system and the universe beyond. My daughter was a voracious reader and still is. After getting a hefty fine one month for past due books and moving 30 miles from town, I started buying books, knowing I could sell them when she was finished. She was reading above her grade level. She is in college now and it is time to pass these books on to another reader interested in science.
