My daughter was a voracious reader and still is. After getting a hefty fine one month for past due books and moving 30 miles from town, I started buying books, knowing I could sell them when she was finished. She was reading above her grade level. Getting language arts textbooks worked well to keep her supplied with reading material. She is in college now and it is time to pass these books on to another voracious reader. This could also be used as a summer review for a student who struggled in 4th grade, or to use with a 3rd grader over the summer to get a head start on 4th grade.
MY REVIEW: After perusing this book (not reading it cover to cover) I am impressed. The stories are wholesome. There are realistic fiction, informational articles, poems, mysteries, biographies, fables and a play. Common themes seem to be relationships and making wise decisions using a wide variety of interesting topics. Basically wholesome with out Christian content which makes them suitable for non-Christian home schoolers who want to teach values and give their students a high quality education.
